Re: Some Thoughts on Suicide by Tim Ferris

07/05/2015 by Em Phoenix 2 komentáře

I wrote about this couple of times in the past but Tim just reminded me with his amaizing and powerful post that some topics are worth being repetitive on.

I, too, have a history of feeling suicidal. I wanted to say „sadly“ or something like that but actually am not much ashamed of it, I couldn’t prevent it and it’s not a thing to blame yourself about. It’s just something that happens to you and if you are lucky, you realize in time the things Tim realized, that I realized and surely many other people, who survived their suicidal thoughts, realized too.

And he’s completely right, it doesn’t matter what brings you to the situation – you are never alone, you are never the first or the last person to get to the situation, and there is few places to turn to, to ask for help or at least an opinion of another person, whether it’s friends, family, or preferably complete stranger on a phone or in a coffee shop. The world will always send you clues if you just open your eyes and heart and accept its help.

Hello there, again

29/04/2015 by Em Phoenix 2 komentáře

I know! It’s been ages since I posted in English and I apologize to whoever from abroad follows me. (If you still follow me after those months of non-english writing, by the way, thumbs up for you, you are amaizing.)

I was really trying to get back to it, partially because few people gave me a feedback that I should, but life somehow got focused mainly on work and there is little time to blog, and even less to experience something worth blogging about. Life can become a bit redundant even if you travel – well, maybe it’s just if you travel for work.

Being a multipod

24/09/2014 by Em Phoenix 1 komentář

Hello guys!

I’m totally swamped with things going on – in just four days I’ll be leaving England after spending a year and half as an au-pair and the whole process of going is just overwhelming. It’s not just packing, it’s been three crazy weeks of trying to catch up with everything we never had time for, trips, restaurants we’ve been advised to go to, places we wanted to see, things we wanted to try or buy (yeah, we had a „lovely“ all day trip to bloody Bristol to get my boyfriend’s new iPhone after he was too late to book it in advance from much closer Brighton and they got sold out, bah) but also tell everybody in time that we are leaving, thank everybody, finish all the jobs that need to be done, teach a new housekeeper, find a new au-pair couple and just by the way, chase the big bat that just got into your room out of the window again! (You just have to love the countryside, this would never happen to me in Prague)

BUT! I still want to carve this little bit of time to write a special post for Emilie from Puttylike because as much as I want to go to bed, I’d be really sorry to miss this unique opportunity that only happens every… err… like never before?

It’s Puttyfest!

And I only have today to write this which sucks. I was planning to put so much in it but there’s so much stuff to do and so little time! Ha, quite a multipotentialite’s motto…

The ultimate guide to our host-family’s animals

26/08/2014 by Em Phoenix 2 komentáře

Over the last sixteen months I had a chance to develop a very strong relationship with all the gorgeous animals belonging to our host-family. They included a dog, five cats, two tanks full of fish, also pond-fish, chicken and a rabbit. Some of them already passed away and it was tough, but I’ve already written some post about Squizzie who was my most favorite cat and Truffle the rabbit and now I feel like it’s time to say something about the others who stayed and who I’ll be leaving. I wrote it in a guide-style because I believe either the host-family itself or whoever will replace us could use one to take a really good care of them.

I think I could write much more about them and post tons of crazy pictures (it’s pets, you know how they are and every picture is so damn funny and silly that you just HAVE to share it annoy everybody on facebook) but let’s keep it simple and just about the most significant features.

dasy.jpgLet’s start with Daisy. Daisy is a dog, god knows what kind, but she’s a good and sweet dog. She pretends to be the toughest guarding dog ever, barking at every car that drives by, or every person that dares to come close enough to „her“ property but just call her name and she’s all quiet and playful.

She responses well to either english or czech version of her name, the czech being Daisynka or Dášenka, and she understands some basic ordrers like „sit“, „lay down“, „give me a paw“ or even „shut up“ – but that only for like ten seconds.

Listening to The Feud

01/06/2014 by Em Phoenix 4 komentáře

I was on the train from Pulborough to London, over an hour of a journey and listening to The Feud. My mind just drifted away with their music, I’ve been listening to them for ages now and I still get amazed by how they feel good to listen and what good memories and emotions they bring up.

Train by eileennicolina

I don’t even have the new song on my mp3 player, just some old ones, also few previews to which I’d love to get full versions one day (Perfect Stranger for example). I remember a song that I don’t own and I loved it… well I did remember it, now it’s fading away, I can’t recall the text or the melody and can’t find it on any of their streams. All I know is that they used to play it back when they were new with In Between the Lines EP. How excited I was to get the shiny new red cd and their t-shirt which by now got pretty worn but I still treasure it.

Em’s Favorites: The Best Blog Posts You Need To Read

29/04/2014 by Em Phoenix 2 komentáře

faviAka The Ultimate List.

Ok, some of these will only appeal to bloggers or people thinking about starting a blog (some great stuff about passive income and epic blogging in general) but plenty others are simply about minimalism, meditation, life hacks and other stuff that can apply to anyone’s life and I believe these are pure gold so I’m sharing them.

I’m kinda lying in that „ultimate“ part, this list is obviously not finished, there is so much awesome stuff to read online, so many great bloggers and writers and I don’t always bookmark everything, so I will probably add more when I come across them (again). But still a pretty good list to start with and for more inspiring posts you can check my Twitter feed where I share anything amaizing I come across while browsing for more inspiration on minimalism or blogging, my two biggest passions.

Hello, english readers!

Translate! Translate!

Welcome and sorry about the confusion with foreign language here! This is me trying to start a bilingual blog which is something completely new to me and I haven’t figured out how exactly I want to do this yet.

However I am trying to make it at least slightly readable to you as well because I want to open myself to the world a bit.

I’d call it a beta version, it needs testing and your response. This blog is still mainly led in czech language and a lot of its content is meant for a specific group of czech people, like the most used category right now, Slovo šedé eminence k AK which relates to a czech blogging community where I’m trying to help bloggers to get more proffesional look and better impression of their weblogs to get more serious traffic, based on my own experience and knowledge collected throughout years of following the coolest bloggers from abroad like Corbet Barr, Pat Flynn, Everett Bogue, Joshua Becker, Nina Yau and many many others.

What’s here for you, is this brand new English please…? category. For now it doesn’t have any specific theme, it’s just something to start with, to get to know me and what I’m about, to see if you even want to waste time reading my stuff.

But it’s not supposed to be just about me, I need to know your side, too, I need your help. Please, let me know if this system works for you. Did you find the English category easily or did you get too confused by the foreign language? Do I need a bigger and brighter banner or an insanely huge british flag to catch your eyes or is that police box banner enough to point you in the right direction? Would you prefer the name of the blog and the signs being in English (or both languages) or can you live with the fact that its main orientation is czech so far and that you only get that one category (at least for now)? Have you seen any cool bilingual blogs from which I could take few tips on how to do this? I’d love it if you shared them with me.

Let me know how you feel about this, I’m a begginer to it and would love to learn. In the meantime, read something more about this blog and me under this post, or – if you are not already in the EN category – click that english icon in the menu to get more english written posts.

Why am I a minimalist

16/04/2014 by Em Phoenix 13 komentářů

I love simplicity. I’ve had stressful years before, times when I’ve reached the bottom and then found out it was not the bottom yet, there are even much deeper, darker places. It all happened to me, I’ve been disappointed again and again, life’s meaning was fading more and more away and one day I just couldn’t see any light again, any hope. Everything was too complicated for me to deal with so I’ve blanked, I couldn’t cope with problems anymore, couldn’t get out of my apartmenet, couldn’t think of the stuff I need to deal with or about future. It scared me shitless.

Why I’m going bilingual

31/03/2014 by Em Phoenix 1 komentář

This is something I should have done ages ago. Ever since I started to read and comment bloggers from abroad, I’ve been forced to face the fact that no matter how super smart and glorious my comments were, it wasn’t going to bring me any new readers, unless they fancy reading my czech writing proccesed by a Google Translator – which they really don’t. I mean – my friend from England tried it once and he said he had quite fun trying to understand it and laughing at the bullshit it gave him but that’s not quite what I’d like to give to my occasional readers from abroad.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about starting a billingual weblog because I feel like I owe it to all the amaizing people who end up here clicking on that „Web“ link above my comments. But I have to say it’s one of the biggest dilemas I ever had to face. It brings up so many questions: should I just write every post in two languages? (who has time to do that with the crazy lenght of my posts? O.o I actually spend hours on them just in one language, sometimes, can you imagine rewriting it all into english on top of that?) Should there be two websites on my domain, one fully written in english (including all the categories, sings and stuff)? ‚Cause what’s the point of writing the content in english when you are not able to browse my site since you don’t understand the labels? What if I want to write some things only in english because in my language they don’t sound as right? What happens with my czech readers then? Will they still want to follow me or will they get pissed? The problem is, not everyone here understands english and maybe they don’t really want to follow a blog that’s not consistent in language. I probably wouldn’t.

All these questions have been haunting me for ages and everytime I wrote an english post, I deleted it in the end because it didn’t feel right, I thought it shouldn’t be here. But then what happened:

‚English, please…?‘ introduction

30/03/2014 by Em Phoenix 2 komentáře

Hello, there!

My name is Em and this is my weblog about my travels, about what it takes and what it gives, about ideas what to do next with life and about searching your true callings, all interlaced with my love for minimalism, my thoughts on meditation and how it helped me to sort out my life. It also includes my passion for photography (very amateur but still I love to do it), some of my own poetry and my aspiration to become a better blogger and a better human being every day. Occasionally I also write drabbles or posts for my followers from the czech blogging Authors‘ Club.

I follow several great minimalist bloggers like Leo Babauta, Joshua Becker, Francine Jay or Nina Yau so you might hear me talk about them and their inspirational writing quite often.

This blog is generaly led in czech language so my apologies for the lack of english stuff (and for mistakes as well), but I’m trying to change that right now as I spend more and more time on connecting with bloggers and awesome authors from abroad and I simply wished everyone from all the countries could check out at least some of my writing here without the need to use Google Translate and then laugh about the absurd outcome it provides. (Seriously, you can try it, it’s hilarious)

So welcome and if you wish to learn a bit more about who I am, what I do and what excites me, go ahead and see my brand new English please…? category. It’s here just for you and I’ll make sure to do my best filling it with fresh good content regurarly 😉

In the meantime, you can also check out my Twitter (99% english) and see my photographic attempts on deviantart (completely english). And leave me some comments if you like.
